Ray Hadley joined 2GB in December 2001 to host the weekend rugby league coverage, but he also started hosting the morning program when Alan Jones, a fellow 2UE presenter, moved to 2GB from 2UE in April 2002.

With 20.1% of the listenership, he was the highest-rated radio presenter in Australia in May 2011 until being surpassed a year later by the top-rated Ross and John breakfast show on rival station 3AW in Melbourne.

Ray Hadley began his career on Channel 7 as a sports reporter before being signed on to Channel 9 as a member of The Footy Show.

There he co-hosted with rugby league player and radio colleague Steve “Blocker” Roach from 1994 to 1998.
